JAIIB CAIIB December Exam 2026: Registration Rules to Know

Most candidates lose the December cycle in September, not in December. They miss the registration window, or they pick a centre in a hurry and then discover it cannot be changed. The short clip below runs through what is different this time, and the honest answer is that the JAIIB CAIIB December exam has not changed its syllabus so much as it has tightened its process.

Everything below is taken from the Institute of Banking and Finance rules sheet that governs JAIIB, DB&F, CAIIB and the CAIIB electives. Read it once now and you will not be the person arguing at a gate at 8.16 in the morning.

The registration process is the part that changed

Registration is online only, and only during the open window published in the examination time table. Applications are not accepted after the last date. There is no grace period, no offline route and no appeal. That single line is responsible for more skipped cycles than any topic in any syllabus.

The bigger operational change is what happens during registration. You now choose your venue and your examination time slot yourself, per subject, on a first-come-first-served basis. That sounds generous until you read the next line: there is no provision in the system to change the centre, the venue or the time slot afterwards, and no request for a change will be entertained for any reason. Book carelessly and you live with it.

Practically, this means two things. Register on day one of the window, not on day twenty. And before you click, know exactly which city you will be in that week.

What it costs

The fee structure is attempt-based, and it is worth internalising because it changes how you should think about a half-prepared attempt.

Convenience charges and applicable taxes sit on top of these amounts. Note also that if the Institute reschedules an examination for a valid reason, candidates appear as per the revised schedule. There is no refund of fees already paid and no adjustment against a future examination.

Reporting times: the rule people find out about too late

Examinations run in three batches, and every batch has a hard gate closing time. Reaching the venue at the exam start time is already too late.

Two hard rules attach to that table. No candidate is permitted to enter the venue after the reporting time. And no candidate is permitted to leave the hall in the first sixty minutes from the scheduled start, however confident you are feeling. Frisking is carried out before entry, and refusing to co-operate with frisking means being denied entry.

Admit letter, ID and the things that get people turned away

The admit letter is generated in real time once registration succeeds, and you can save, download and print it immediately. It is also emailed to your registered address about ten days before the examination date, and hosted on the Institute website under Examination or Courses, then Admit Letter, roughly one week before. Log in with your membership or registration number and your edit profile password. If you have forgotten it, use the forgot password link and a fresh one is emailed to you.

At the venue you must produce a hard copy of the admit letter together with your membership identity card or another valid photo ID in original, such as Aadhaar, an employer card, PAN, driving licence, voter card or passport. Without the printed admit letter and photo identity card, you are denied permission to write the examination. A phone screenshot is not a hard copy.

Inside the hall

• Mobile phones and smart gadgets are prohibited. Mere possession in the hall, even switched off or on silent, is deemed to be resorting to unfair means.
• Calculators: a battery operated portable calculator of any type up to six functions and twelve digits is allowed. A scientific calculator is not, and using one is treated as unfair means.
• Medium: the examination is conducted in English and Hindi only.
• Mode: online only.
• Books, notes, periodicals, mathematical tables, slide rules and stencils are not permitted, and all rough sheets must be returned to the invigilator.

After the examination

Results are hosted on the Institute website as a Result Advice you download yourself. A consolidated mark sheet is available for candidates completing an examination with more than one subject, again after the declaration of results, using your membership number and edit profile password. The certificate is emailed to your registered address within two months of the result being declared.

Two things not to expect: there is no facility for verification of marks in objective type online examinations, and the Institute does not share its multiple choice questions or their answers with candidates. That is a policy position, not an oversight, and no correspondence on it is entertained.

If you use a scribe, which is available for visually impaired and orthopaedically challenged candidates, the application goes to your respective Zonal Office in the prescribed format at least thirty days before the examination commences. Thirty days, not thirty hours.

What to do this week

Preparation for the JAIIB CAIIB December exam starts with three administrative jobs, none of which involve opening a book. Confirm your IIBF membership is active. Confirm you can log in and that your edit profile password works. Confirm the city you will be posted in during the exam window, so the slot you lock is a slot you can actually reach.

Then start the syllabus. The paper-wise breakdown for both levels sits on the JAIIB course page and the CAIIB course page, timed mocks are in the test section, and the study planner will lay the whole cycle out day by day. Always cross-check dates and rules against the official notice on iibf.org.in before you rely on them, because the Institute reserves the right to revise the schedule, and it does.
